The Lake County 2050 General Plan is a visionary initiative designed to shape the County's development over the next 25 years. To kick off the plan’s initial “footprint,” residents from Upper Lake, Nice, and Lucerne came together to contribute their insights and help set the course for a sustainable future.

"The General Plan is our roadmap for a more vibrant, equitable, and sustainable Lake County starting that will take us into middle of this century," shared Mireya Turner, Director of Community Development for the County of Lake.

The General Plan envisions a future where improved land use practices, enhanced transportation networks, accessible housing options, climate change resilience, equitable environmental justice policies, sustainable agriculture practices, and effective utilization of natural resources create a thriving and harmonious County of Lake.

Residents are encouraged to engage with planners in the coming months as more opportunities for participation are scheduled.

By actively participating and offering feedback related to crucial areas such as land use, transportation, housing, climate change, environmental justice, agriculture, and natural resources, Lake County residents can directly contribute to shaping a safer, more cohesive, and inclusive environment that benefits all residents.

The County of Lake is working towards a more vibrant, equitable, and thriving tomorrow that will benefit current residents and generations to come. When more voices participate in the planning process, the County will be more effective in identifying and addressing systemic inequities, improve access to resources, promote social justice, create a more inclusive and thriving environment — ultimately enhancing the overall quality of life for all who live, work, and play in the County of Lake.
