Boating. It wouldn’t be the County of Lake without boats and boating safety — especially during the busy summer months. Make sure your boat is equipped with the necessary safety gear, such as life jackets, a first aid kit, and emergency flares. Be aware of the weather forecast and water conditions, and always designate a sober driver if alcohol is consumed on the boat.

Mosquito Chart

Mosquito awareness is crucial during summer, as these pesky insects can carry such diseases as West Nile virus. Protect yourself and your family by using insect repellent, wearing long sleeves and pants, and avoiding outdoor activities during peak mosquito hours. Pets are susceptible to heartworms which mosquitoes are known to transmit. Check with your vet for medications and precautions for your fur babies.
